Indian Traditional Food Knowledge
Today, I discussed traditional culinary, which we termed Vedic food, with one of my readers. The divisions are based on the work we undertake or on historical class divisions. It is Helps you understand which foods are good for you based on your current working situation or help you understand your food for a healthy life.
According to its character and influence on the body and mind, food is satvic, rajasic, or tamasic. The characteristics of a man's chosen diet can reveal his personality or temperament. So let us discuss one by one:
Satvic Diet: A Sattvic diet consists of light and healthy foods. It doesn't go to extremes in terms of flavour — it's not way too sweet, salty, or spicy — it's just right. Sattvic food is light, unctuous, nourishing, sweet, and delicious, and it is always freshly cooked and simple. It boosts mental energy and brings forth feelings of happiness, peace, and mental clarity. Sattvic cuisine is extremely beneficial to one's health. Simply described, Sattvic food is food that cleanses the body and relaxes the mind. A Sattvic diet consists of natural, unprocessed foods that are low in strength and high in energy. It rejuvenates both the body and the mind.
Example of Sattvic foods: Milk, ripe fruits, moong sprouts, torai, karela, ghee, butter, wheat etc.
Rajasic Diet: This is a light and filling meal. Non-vegetarian foods such as eggs, and poultry, as well as all whole pulses and not sprouted dals, spicy spices such as chillies and pepper, and all vegetables, including onion and garlic, are all included. The rajasic diet is healthy. In comparison to sattvic meals, it may have a little more oil and spices.
Examples of rajasic foods: Puri, kachori, sweets, fried bread, curd, brinjal, carrots, urad dal, onion, garlic, tea, coffee, tobacco
Tamasic Diet
All foods derived from the harming of living beings i.e. such as meat and fish etc. This kind of diet should be avoided.
Tamasic foods are those that cause inertia, uncertainty, and disorientation by dulling the mind. This includes stale or warmed meals, products that are overly oily or heavy on the stomach, and fake foods. Tamasic food can also make Rajas more angry and prone to violence.
Examples of tamasic foods: pizza, burgure, chocolate, soft drink, naan, alcohol, tobacco, beef, fish, eggs, wine, garlic, onions etc.
